The Theta Charity Antiques Show was founded in 1952 by the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Since its inaugural event at the Shamrock Hotel, the Theta Charity Antiques Show has donated nearly $8 million to cultural, community, educational and medical causes in Houston. The 2019 Grand Finale event celebrated the countless exhibitors, speakers, beneficiaries and volunteers who have been a part of the Show since its historic beginning 67 years ago. Funds raised from the Theta Charity Antiques Show support the Show’s four permanent beneficiaries: Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens/The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Child Advocates, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, and Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Centers. Additionally, seven deserving local charities were selected to receive philanthropic support from the 2019 Show: Amazing Place, Bo’s Place, Camp for All, Holly Hall, Nick Finnegan Counseling Center, The Rise School, and The Rose.
Since its inaugural event in 1952, the Theta Charity Antiques Show has been run solely by volunteers of the Houston Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. As the largest Theta alumnae chapter in the nation with nearly 600 members, the alumnae chapter is committed to its philanthropic legacy in Houston and will announce its next endeavor in late 2020.
